Giles Mirek Crook

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Giles is a graduate of the world-renowned Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Photography program at RMIT University. Established in 1887, RMIT has been teaching photography for over 130 years, and it was there that Giles trained in contemporary commercial photography practices and advanced retouching workflows under the guidance of leading industry experts and globally esteemed professionals.

Giles has received several prestigious awards and scholarship grants, one of which took him to China as part of the UMAP (University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific) Young Ambassadors delegation in 2011.

He has participated in numerous international photography festivals, including the FotoFreo Photography Festival (Australia), the Pingyao International Photography Festival (China), and, more recently, as a guest speaker at the Auckland Festival of Photography (New Zealand).

Giles established himself in the Australian photography industry as a freelance retoucher, working alongside some of Melbourne’s most respected studios. With his sharp eye for detail and industry experience, he collaborated with some of Australia’s leading fashion houses and retailers, laying the groundwork for his expansion onto the international stage.

Today, Giles is based in Bangkok, Thailand, where he leads a team of professional retouchers. He brings an internationally experienced standard of retouching to the Southeast Asian photo industry, while continuing to collaborate closely with his global clients.
