Giles Mirek Crook

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Giles is a graduate of the world renowned Bachelor of Arts course in Commercial Photography from RMIT University. For 130 years, RMIT has been teaching photography (Established in 1887) and It was there he trained in contemporary commercial photography practices as well as retouching workflows by leading industry and globally esteemed professionals.

Giles has been the recipient of several prestigious awards and scholarship grants which took him to China as a member of UMAP (University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific) Young Ambassadors delegation (2011).

Giles has participated in several international festivals for photography including; the FotoFreo Photography Festival (Australia), Pingyao International Photography Festival (China) as well as most recently guest speaker at the Auckland Festival for Photography (New Zealand). 

Giles established himself in the Australian photography industry as a freelance retoucher working alongside highly respected studios in Melbourne. Giles’ experience and attention to detail saw him work on projects for some of Australia’s largest fashion houses and retailers such as; Adidas, Myer, Slazenger, Sportsgirl, Florsheim Shoes, TS14 plus, Cotton On and more.

Nowadays Giles finds himself working alongside his team of professional retouchers in Bangkok (Thailand). He offers an experienced international standard of retouching to the South East Asian photo industry while also working closely with his international clients.
